AMPLE FLAVOURED WATERS — No. 1
A Kit of fresh organic oranges, lemons, limes & fresh mint with enough produce to make 7 jars (1 litre) of TRIPLE CITRUS & MINT Flavoured Water. A second batch can be made each time.
That will make a minimum of 14 litres of Flavoured Water, costing less than $1 a litre
TRIPLE CITRUS & MINT
Fresh • Citrusy • Refreshing • Ridiculously Easy
Ingredients — Makes 1 litre
¼ lemon, thinly sliced
¼ lime, thinly sliced
½ orange, thinly sliced
10 mint leaves, gently bruised
1 litre water
Method
Place the sliced lemon, lime, orange and mint into a clean glass jar or jug.
Top with 1 litre of water.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavours to develop
Overnight will give you a stronger flavour.
Then simply pour and enjoy.
Add ice and a fresh sprig of mint to your glass if you’re feeling fancy.
And frankly, why shouldn’t we feel fancy drinking water?
WHY MINT?
Mint is a lovely herb to begin with because its fresh flavour works beautifully with citrus and many other fruits.
When a recipe says to “bruise” the mint, gently press or clap the leaves between your palms before adding them to the jar.
This helps release some of those beautiful aromatic oils without chopping the mint into tiny pieces that end up floating through your drink.
A FEW LITTLE TRICKS I’VE LEARNT ALREADY
Give your fruit and herbs a good wash before using them, particularly when the citrus peel is going straight into the water.
Slice your fruit reasonably thinly. More exposed surface gives the water more opportunity to pick up the flavour.
Aim for slices around 1–2 mm thick — but please use a sharp knife and keep those fingers well out of the way!
Use a clean glass jar or covered glass jug for infusing your water.
Put it somewhere you can SEE it.
Like the front shelf of the fridge at eye level.
There isn’t much point making beautiful flavoured water and then hiding it behind the broccoli!
When you’re heading out, simply pour some into your favourite drink bottle and take it with you.
